Amelec Jaalam Diaz (b. 1990 Michoacan, Mexico) is a Phoenix, Arizona based interdisciplinary artist (two dimensional, three dimensional). His work explores the intersections of identity, ancient cultural products, and contemporary products. Amelec received his AAFA from Phoenix College, where he was an Eric Fischl Scholar. He received a first place award in painting and in sculpture for the Phoenix College Annual Juried Student Show (2013), where he was also awarded the Eric Fischl Vanguard Award (2013). His work has been featured at the Association of Jotería Arts and Activism’s national conference (2012).  He has received Juror’s Choice award in the National League for Innovation in the Community College Student Art Competition (2012). He has shown in group shows in the Phoenix Art Museum (2011, 2013), R. Pela Gallery (2013), and Legend City (2013).
